
Our Community Service Programs
(CSPs)
Service projects form the core of our community commitment. We address issues of education, healthcare, the environment, social equity, and domestic abuse. By engaging members directly, we help create real improvements in people's lives.

Arts and Culture
The SPWC Arts & Culture Community Service Program supports art and cultural initiatives within our club and community, aiming to enhance skills, awareness, and appreciation of both areas.
2025 projects

Assisted at the Museum of Fine Arts’ Painting in the Park event, supporting over 500 children in exploring their creativity and encouraging them to “color outside the lines”.

Volunteered 125 hours organizing a members' art competition and hosting the GFWC District Arts Competition.

Planned three local museum visits to encourage members to engage with the arts and share their experiences within the local community.

Offered beginner lessons, review sessions, and guided play for members new to Mahjong. Our team of eight instructors volunteered 150 hours to teach over 30 members.

Civic Engagement and Outreach
The SPWC Civic Engagement and Outreach Community Service Program offers members opportunities to engage in initiatives supporting law enforcement, the military, and first responders, as well as to provide education on personal safety measures for women and seniors.

Donated 100 handmade stuffed animals to support the police with their at-risk children's program.

Wrote 80 cards for Veterans participating in the Honor Flight and welcomed them home at the end of their mission.

Education and Libraries
GFWC has a long history of supporting education. SPWC continues this legacy by designing and supporting local educational activities.
2025 projects

Donated 425 cereal boxes to a local summer school program.

Volunteered 95 hours assisting students in the Bill Edwards Foundation Class Act program.

Created a SPIRIT scholarship program with the Pinellas Education Foundation and funded three $1000 scholarships for St. Petersburg High School Seniors.

Held a Back-to-School Supply Drive and donated supplies totaling $1000 to a Title 1 elementary school.

Health and Wellness
The SPWC Health and Wellness Community Service Program raises awareness and supports care for physical and emotional health at every stage of life, encouraging healthy habits across all areas of well-being.
2025 projects

Donated 17 handmade quilts and matching pillowcases to Alpha House to enhance the comfort and home-like feel of the facility for its current residents.

Made and donated 84 comfort items for hospice patients to provide physical, emotional, and mental support.

Donated 90 filled baskets and 400 filled eggs to the Sallie House's and the Ronald McDonald House's Easter celebrations.

Donated 174 comfort items to the children at the Ronald McDonald House, including handmade toys, quilts, pillowcases, and books.

Evening Committee
The SPWC Evening Group, for members unavailable during the day, organizes and participates in various evening and weekend community service projects to support SPWC’s mission.
2025 projects

Volunteered 150 hours in the restoration of the historic SPWC Clubhouse after Hurricane Helene by installing floral wallpaper in the famous teacup cabinet, and redecorating restrooms.

Prepared two themed dinners, Italian and Cuban, for 70 residents at Ronald McDonald House, St. Petersburg East at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.

Sponsored the annual Mother’s Day Event for families from The Children’s Dream Fund. Fifteen mothers enjoyed treats and conversation, while their children made Mother’s Day gifts and cards using member-donated craft supplies.

Coordinated the New Teacher Initiative to welcome 68 newly appointed teachers across 22 public schools in St. Petersburg. Facilitated the donation of school supplies valued at $5,000 and organized a reception to express SPWC's appreciation for educators.
